F1 driver Lance Stroll has issued an apology to the FIA for his behavior during the Qatar Grand Prix

Lance Stroll, driver for Aston Martin, has expressed his regret to the regulatory body of motorsport for his actions following qualifying at the Formula One Qatar Grand Prix over the past weekend.

After finishing in 16th place in qualifying, Stroll slammed the steering wheel out of his car and shoved his trainer out of the way.

The compliance officer for the FIA had opened an investigation into the 24-year-old driver because there was a possibility that he had broken F1 rules.

A compliance officer had requested an apology from Stroll, and an FIA representative confirmed that the request was granted. Stroll was also given an official warning.

An official statement made by the FIA read as follows: “The compliance officer has noted this apology and issued a written warning, reminding Lance of his responsibilities as a competitor bound by the FIA Code of Ethics and other FIA ethical and conduct guidelines set forth by the sporting regulations.”

“The FIA maintains a zero-tolerance stance against misconduct and condemns any actions that may lead to physical harassment.”

After Stroll had been eliminated from contention in the first qualifying session in Qatar due to his lap time being 1.122 seconds slower than that of his teammate Fernando Alonso, Stroll made the decision to take action.

The two-time world champion from Spain went on to qualify in fourth place for the grand prix, maintaining his string of continuous victories over his colleague from Canada in the process.

After the first qualifying session for the fifth consecutive weekend, Stroll was eliminated from the competition.
